Welcome to the Callister-Perez Project Blog

Well Folks, we're creating a new blog about some of the music that this little project is creating and recording.

A bit of history about this little project is that Seth Callister http://theguitarguy.org/and Ralph Perez met back in 2002 when we were about to form the Looking Back Band. We were a trio that comprised Mike Toombs, Seth and Ralph as a 3 peice guitar trio knocking off songs from Simon and Garfunkel, the Eagles, America, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, and other greats from the good ol acoustic rock days of the 70's. Later, Looking Back would morph into what is now known as the 40 Somethin Band http://www.40somethinband.blogspot.com/ and would include the departure of our beloved friend Seth.
Ralph was ever so humbled to be asked to play guitar behind Seth and his daughters in the "Callisters" band. There the magic continued between Ralph and Seth and the mutual respect for the two completely different playing styles. Kind of a Ying and Yang thing. That was the begining of a music and friendship that would only build through the years.

From time to time, Looking Back still plays and sings together. Mostly, it's the 40 Somethin Band for Ralph and it's the Dusty Boots Band or Seth and or his ever capable and beautiful daughters whailing away at the songs they do so well in their band. However, now Seth and Ralph are on a project.

We have always loved LDS Hymns. After listening to the work of Michael Dowdle, Small-Clemete Duo, Geoff Groberg and Mark Geslison and others, we thought it appropriate to throw our works into the mix.

Currently we have recorded 16 hymns on guitat mostly along with some bass guitat, mandolin, dulcimer and 12string from time to time. Mostly its the Martin D-28 and the Seagull S6 CW. We'll see what else comes of this project. Hopefully enough of you will follow us to help us along
